Teatro alla Scala, the name that symbolizes “opera” throughout the world. From the very beginning of its history is has been the most important opera house in Italy and even more so the standard and the example of artistic excellence and quality all over the world. Some of the finest works of operatic history by the best composers such as Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Verdi and Puccini have had their world premiers at La Scala. We at the Finnish National Opera being over hundred years younger as an opera house can do nothing less but bow in front of the great legacy and present excellence of La Scala. In order to celebrate the re-opening of La Scala and to pay our respect we wanted to dedicate one of our operas from the season 2004-2005 to La Scala. This opera which is one of the most beloved ones made operatic legend in its première at La Scala 1926 with Arturo Toscanini. Finnish National Opera dedicates the revival of Turandot April 16th 2005 to La Scala.
Our best wishes and utmost sincere feelings of respect and joy to re-opening of La Scala.
