Dante Alighieri

Amongst many others, Amici della Scala also took part in the celebration of the 750th anniversary since the birth of Dante Alighieri, inviting, on the 28th of January 2016 Quirino Principe, a great expert of the poet as well as friend of the Association. The musicologist, critic, writer and translator, received from Jaca Book the opportunity to offer an alternative reading of Dante. Two cantos were read: the 13th canto of the Inferno, which portrays the fate of those who committed suicide or who squandered their money, and the 6th canto of the Purgatorio, which, by recounting the situation of Italy and the Empire, presents an opportunity for a political speech.
