Giulio Carlo Argan

On the 10th of January 1987, in the La Scala foyer, a memorable conference was held as part of the series “A proposito di…” (an alternative title to “Intorno a…”, eventually substituted by the name “Prima delle prime”). The conference hosted a discussion with Giulio Carlo Argan, Giuseppe Bevilacqua, Gillo Dorfles and Bob Wilson, chaired by Giulio Nascimbeni. The symposium was dedicated to Richard Strauss’ opera Salome. Here is a fragment from that occasion. The letter, signed by senator Argan, expresses his best wishes to the Association for their participation in the European Year of Music. In 1990, Professor Argan curated the exhibition “Maccari e Buzzati al Teatro alla Scala, bozzetti e figurini 1959-1973” (“Maccari and Buzzati at La Scala. Set models and costume sketches 1959-1973”).
