Alessandro Sanquirico
On the 26th of November 2013, in the La Scala “A. Toscanini” foyer, many figures from the words of culture, art, as well as publishing and business, celebrated the publications of the year. As usual, it was a great party. A party that paid homage to Sanquirico with the release of the volume Alessandro Sanquirico. Theatre, Celebrations, Triumphs (1777–1849). We also celebrated the presentation of four new monographs that have enriched the series Performing Artists at La Scala, then in its eleventh year. The name of the artists to whom Vittoria Crespi Morbio dedicated the special volumes, are: Nicholas Georgiadis, Vera Marzot, Jean-Pierre Ponnelle and Arnaldo Pomodoro. The very Maestro Arnaldo Pomodoro was appointed as an Amici della Scala Honorary member. The event was opened by the Opera House’s General Manager Stéphane Lissner, who stressed how the work of the Association and of our President, has represented and continues to represent a fundamental support for the theatre. Then, Vincenzo Costanzo, young Italian tenor aged only 22, sang two arias from Simon Boccanegra and Luisa Miller, accompanied by Beatrice Benzi on the piano.
