Victor De Sabata

In September 2017, Amici della Scala sent a newsletter to its members in memory of the eminent conductor and composer Victor De Sabata. As the text reminded the reader, it was thanks to a “game of chance that two giants of conducting” – Toscanini and De Sabata – happened to be at the centre of important celebrations during the course of the same year: this was for the 150th year anniversary of the birth of Toscanini, and 50 years since De Sabata’s passing. Along with the newsletter, we sent some images that we received from the conductor’s daughter, Eliana De Sabata Ceccato, as well as some testimonies: here we can listen to one from the very Eliana, and another from Franco Fantini, concertmaster of the La Scala Orchestra.
