Livio Garzanti

Amongst the many contributions that the Amici della Scala Association offered to the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, we should mention in particular the collaboration with Garzanti publishing. Since the Filarmonica was born as an autonomous body, the editing and printing of playbills were part of the newly born orchestra’s duties: an onerous task. Amici della Scala asked Garzanti to support the release of the playbills by publishing a related essay as a presentation of each concert, and an extract from the Enciclopedia Europea (“European Encyclopaedia”). The collaboration is recalled in this 1992 letter by President Anna Crespi to Livio Garzanti, who was named Honorary Member. In the picture, Garzanti is with Inge Feltrinelli and Valentino Bompiani.
