Ambrogio Maestri

Amongst the many artists encountered at the Amici della Scala premises for conversations with members and guests is Ambrogio Maestri (protagonist, in 2017, to the staging of Verdi’s Falstaff, conducted by Zibin Mehta and directed by Damiano Michieletto) who is certainly amongst the most likeable and… physically immense! Precisely as the character he played on theatre stages around the world, 250 times. Recognised as the greatest living Falstaff, Maestri recounted, to Enrico Girardi and the audience present, the beginnings of his career, as well as the long and meticulous study of the character made by him and Riccardo Muti.
