Cardini and the Orient

Orientalist and great expert of the Middle Ages, Franco Cardini collaborated with Amici della Scala on many occasions. Amongst other things, he took part in the conference “Around… Mohammed II” along with Bruno Cagli, who was then General Manager of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In this 1992 letter, Cardini proposes to Anna Crespi the organisation of an exhibition on the Orient at La Scala, a subject of great appeal. This idea will give rise to interesting explorations of the worlds surrounding the great opera tradition, as has occurred in more recent times.
