Carlo Bergonzi

An unforgotten protagonist of the 20th century operatic scene, in 1988 tenor Carlo Bergonzi wrote a note to Anna Crespi in memory of Nicola Benois. Beyond paying tribute to Benois’ greatness, Bergonzi also criticizes the tendency of staging operas that do not follow the original libretto.
