Cesare Mazzonis

At the heart of Amici della Scala, a very special place is reserved for Cesare Mazzonis. Not only for his great contribution to the Opera House as an artistic director: after all, it is not without reason that his name recurs so frequently in our history. However, as he himself has stated, Amici della Scala and Milan dwell in his heart too, since he has always been “welcomed with affection and generosity”. To him this small photo gallery is dedicated (we see him, amongst the others, with Ruth Shammah, Roberto De Simone, Giovanni Carli Ballola, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Luca Ronconi, Bob Wilson). The gallery also includes the book on his relationship with La Scala and the letter that he wrote when leaving the Opera House, stressing that “what has been done by Amici della Scala will mark an epoch”.
