Claudio Magris

Many were the occasions on which Claudio Magris, one of the greatest Italian intellectuals, was welcomed at Amici della Scala. The first of these was in 1988, for the presentation of his book Stadelmann, published by Garzanti. Alessandro Quasimodo read some pages of the book. Later in 2002, Magris was a protagonist of an extraordinary evening at Palazzo Reale that saw the participation of Moni Ovadia. A celebratory dinner followed at Palazzo Serbelloni. On the 25th of September 2014, Magris eventually joined us once again in our offices, also inviting his friends from Milan, in a festive and colourful atmosphere, far from being formal and, most of all, imbued with friendship. In the images (amongst which there is one of him alone, one with Elisabetta Sgarbi and one with Umberto Eco) a greetings note from him, and a poem that Edoardo Sanguineti had “delivered” to him through Amici della Scala.
