Donations

Many are the donations that Amici della Scala made in its 40 years of activity, by recovering archives and collections of great artistic and historical value. As early as 1993, along with Banca Popolare di Milano, the Association donated to the operatic organisation, La Scala, a collection of 80 original croquis and choreographic schemes made in 1883 by the Atelier Manzotti for the Parisian premiere of Excelsior, in the new Eden Theatre. In 2002, the La Scala foundation received a gift of 20 previously unreleased croquis made by Alfredo Edel the great costume designer of international fame, who also made the costumes for the premiere of Verdi’s Otello. In the pictures, are some of Edel’s personal creations.
