Femmes fatales
On the 17th of November 2009, in the La Scala foyer, Vittoria Crespi Morbio’s book Femmes Fatales at the Opera was presented as part of the series “December Seventh”. The book, with texts by Quirino Principe and André Tubeuf, was published by Umberto Allemandi & Co. / Amici della Scala, in Italian and English. In the introductory text, the curator writes: “In opera the ‘femme fatale’ is an archetype encompassing the magicians of antique phantasmagorias like Alcina and Armida, as well as Carmen, Salome, and most representative of all, Lulu”. At the end of the evening, particular appreciation was given to the dance performed by Luciana Savignano from Il suo nome Carmen (“Her name, Carmen”), music by Goran Bregovič, choreography by Susanna Beltramini.
