Goulandris receiving the Mecenate Prize

On the 25th of May 2001, the Mecenate Prize 2001 award ceremony was held in St. Mark’s Church of Milan. The recipients of the prize were Dolly Goulandris and Amedeo Lia. Dolly Goulandris was an extremely important personality for the cultural life of Athens and Greece. She founded the Museum of Cycladic Art, which, each year, attracts thousands of tourists to the Greek capital: extraordinary are the artworks on display, as is the exhibition programme. The prize-giving ceremony was followed by a show of Mediterranean music, in the presence of many personalities, both Italian and from abroad. The event was held with the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Culture, the Regional Government of Lombardy, and the Council of Milan (Museum and Culture – Museums and Exhibitions department).
