Leyla Gencer

One of the greatest and most admired protagonists of the 20th century operatic scene, Leyla Gencer was also a prominent figure of Milanese cultural and musical life. Generations of singers owe a great deal to her, thanks to her activity as a teacher, which brought her to run Accademia della Scala after the invitation of Riccardo Muti. Amici della Scala also takes pride in her involvement in the Association’s activities and for having been an Honorary Member. Here she is pictured alone, as well as in the company of two other great artists: Gianandrea Gavazzeni and Giulietta Simionato.
