Luigi Nono

It is the 12th of September 1985. Amici della Scala hosts, in their offices, a conference with Luigi Nono on his opera Prometeo. As one of the great events during the period in which Claudio Abbado was music director at La Scala, Nono’s opera certainly could not have eluded our attention and research interests. The pictures were taken on that occasion. In the brief video, we hear an extract from the encounter with Nono, in which the composer remembers how, along with Massimo Cacciari, they explored the roots of the history of Venice: a rich history, which has its roots in the Phoenicians and in the Chaldean people. A history that, in the forgotten 17th century, had discovered the relationship between sound and space. A history that “opens the heart”.
