Nicola Benois

In these pages recurs Nicola Benois’ testimony to his affection for Anna Crespi and for Amici della Scala. The letters that the great scenographer composed with his dense writing are many (in one, he even speaks about his encounter with Wilhelm Furtwängler). It is striking that, after having contributed to the rebuild of the La Scala Opera House after the bombings, he also offered Anna Crespi a design project for the new offices in corso Venezia! Although never realised, this  gift remains a wonderful token of his fondness.
