Prize for Research in Musicological Disciplines

The 11th of June 2013 was an important date. In the La Scala foyer, the first award ceremony for the Prize for Research in Musicological Disciplines was held. The prize was promoted by Together for culture / Amici della Scala. Anna Crespi and the commission, which comprised of professors Philip Gossett, Antonio Rostagno and Dinko Fabris, awarded the prize to Liana Püschel from the University of Turin. Her PhD thesis resulted in a publication in collaboration with Feltrinelli, entitled: Russi, caffè e avanguardie. Aspetti della Parigi musicale all’epoca delle Histoires naturelles di Ravel (Russians, Cafès and the Avant Guard: Aspects of musical life in Paris during the period of Ravel’s Histoires naturelles). The ceremony closed with a concert by tenor Piero Pretti accompanied by Maestro James Vaughan on the piano. The first competition saw the participation of 27 universities, 43 professors and 21 PhD coordinators. In the video, Antonio Rostagno speaks about the project, and stresses how the prize can benefit music research publishing, a field in crisis.
