Ugo Stille
Ugo Stille, born as Mikhail Kamenetzky, was an Italian journalist of Russian origin who was later naturalised as a U.S. citizen (Moscow, 3 December 1919 – New York, 2 June 1995). News correspondent from the U.S. for “Corriere della Sera” since the post-war period until the Nineties, he was also director of the newspaper from 1987 to 1992. He was a great personality, here captured with the most renowned “Misha” of history: Rostropovich. The two “Russians” found themselves at ease in Amici della Scala’s cultural salon, giving life to an unusual “duet” between two great and fascinating personalities. In the two other pictures, Stille is immortalised with Anna Crespi and Cesare Mazzonis.
